I find the sample is interesting because the desciptive of the person use is very good as well as funny like:I looked from the corners of my eyes and saw those boys standing beside me emotionlessly, looking as cool as cucumbers!!! By using object or things to decribe a person can actually give us a better mental image of what the writer is telling us about and also uses pronouns like "I," "me," and "mine" for the interesting personal recount. Not only this, the phrase that describe a person are also written very well like "my mood turned dark and despondent." Overall, i find this story is written very well!... :)
